Regicide by thomaswievegg on DeviantArt.com

The door was jammed. He could hear noise inside. Sounds of struggling, of fighting. His heart pounded against his ribcage, eyes watered and dampened his cheeks. The village was in flames at his back, townsfolk screamed into the sky, cursing, wishing, regretting. The King’s death rattle sounded like a siren through the thick wooden door and he stopped thrusting his shoulder against it. It was over. He looked down at his blade, sopping with crimson, and his lips turned down — a bandit who once broke bread with the king.

Jester by Fearmytofu on DeviantArt.com

The sound of jingling awoke the King from his slumber. He searched around the room and laid eyes on a shadowed figure. It moved closer and his eyes focused on the knife.
“You made me walk on needles. You thought my torture was funny. FUNNY!”
The figure’s painted face contorted as he let out a boisterous laugh and put the knife blade upon the king’s neck. With one swift motion he slit the King’s throat and to the tune of blood gushing and jingling bells he sang “I may have been your jester, but I am no fool.”

He’d followed her for two days.

The lady who’d read his fortune claimed she’d lead him to his destiny.

He’d jumped at the chance. Who wouldn’t love a beautiful woman?

“Stay out of sight, and you’ll find the treasure you seek.”

The warning was absurd. What harm could come from such a delicate creature?

He made his move in the smoky tavern and placed his hand on her shoulder.

“You were warned,” she said.

“I seek a beautiful treasure.”

“You earned a beautiful death!”

Her knife was sharp, his life faded, and she laughed.

“These men never learn.”

Lachrymosa by LadyAmdis on DeviantArt.com

They lied.

Her fairy-tale didn’t come true.

“One day your true love will come and rescue you from this tower.”

After ten long years, she was tired of waiting. The tower was cold and boring, and the old lady who brought food was no company at all.

She was ready with a broken bottle in hand. She waited until she heard the key in the lock and slow steps on the stairs.

“How are we today, Dearie?”

“I’m ready for a new start, actually,” she said.

The old woman screamed as the jagged bottle sliced her neck.

“Thanks for nothing.”

Vengeance by Lithium-Tears on DeviantArt.com

She took the knife, sharp and polished, from her garter. Her eyes glistened in the candlelight, and her hair blew in the breeze from under the door. He slept in his large bed, his snore damp and loud. She smiled. The weapon clenched above her head in her fists came down. His snoring perished. His final grunt. His limp body stiffened under her blade. The Princess looked down at the man who raised her, the man who broke her, and the man who quenched her thirst for vengeance.

Drive by RETORBOY on DeviantArt.com

Jessie clips the runner, sees him fall, stops to watch the stain spread from beneath his skull.

“They should only give 100 points for an ex,”  Dolan teases.  “Just seems too easy.”

Jessie rolls her eyes, continues on.  It’s quiet for miles, then 3 figures appear, trying to pull themselves from their wreck.  Jessie cuts hard to the right, spins out in a perfect circle.  Two go airborne; one ends up under the wheel.  Bones crunch as she backs up, barely able to hide her shudder.

“600 points enough for you, Dad?”

Dolan chuckles, unable to hide his pride.

Rockin Roll Hot Rod by Britt8m on DeviantArt.com

“Ya let that geezer get away, dipshit,” screamed Skwerl.

“Shut yer spithole,” hissed Dingo, cranking the hotrod’s wheel hard left. “Crippled old men ain’t worth the damage. We want the big score.”

“Like what?”

“Teen male. 500 points. For the win!”

“This here’s a retirement community, dipshit.”

Dingo white-knuckled the wheel. “Yer pushing it, Skwerl.”

“Where you gonna find a teen, dipshit?”

Teeth gnashing, Dingo fastened his seatbelt, then pointed ahead. “There.”

“Where?”

Dingo clipped a parked junker. Skwerl flew through the windshield.

Bloody and broken, Skwerl flipped over. “Why, Dingo?”

“For the win, dipshit!” shouted Dingo, rolling over his head.

Whip by louten on DeviantArt.com

Her whip snapped against his back. “Did you really think I would’ve let you leave with my most prized possession?”

The old man fell on all fours. “Not willingly. The poison—,” he said as he reached for the necklace.

Her whip lashed out, grabbing it before the old man could take it.

She walked closer, “You mean this.“ She held a half-filled vial.

“How?” he said.

“A girl has her ways,” she smiled.

The old man followed her gaze, where a young man bled on the floor.

“Now,” she said as she raised her whip, “Say bye-bye.”

Menendez’s head vaporized in a pink puff.

Just like the movies, thought Trio, shouldering her .300 Winchester Magnum. She crossed the Parque Central Tower roof, grabbed the zipline handles, and launched off the ledge.

Ten yards from Banco Mercantil, the line pinged like a guitar string. Her peripherals caught the shooter, two roofs over, ducking out. The cartel wrapping up loose ends.

Then she was plummeting, glass windows flashing by – fortieth floor, thirtieth, twentieth.

Trio contemplated a death-defying acrobatic feat, crashing through mirrored glass in slow motion, landing ninja-style. Alas, this was no movie. She painted the sidewalk red.
